Essaouira Judaica Hamsa with El Shaddai Hebrew Characters and the Hand of Protection Pendant
- Essaouira Judaica Hamsa with El Shaddai Hebrew Characters and the Hand of Protection
- This particular style of Hamsa is from the town Essaouira. The Hamsa body appears to be cast 800 Silver (80% silver content) which was then hand finished and stamped with a pattern. Atop this was soldered a second stamped Hamsa form. The second stamped Hamsa then received a cast 92.5 Sterling Silver Hebrew Characters for El Shaddai (Hebrew: אֵל שַׁדַּי), and a Hand of Protection, which were soldered on to the 800 Silver base. This addition to the Hamsa base accounts for the discoloration surrounding the Characters and the Hand.
- El Shaddai (Hebrew: אֵל שַׁדַּי) or just Shaddai is one of the names of the God of Israel. El Shaddai is conventionally translated as God Almighty.
